Assignment #1

Original Source Image
Shapes: geometric
Color: cool hues/light neutrals
Texture: smooth
Line: geometric, vertical, horizontal, grid(windows)
Value: high contrast between window reflections of the sky against the building
Focal Point: window and figure (man) as it is placed right in the center

Deconstruction and Reconstruction
The modified composition still places the figure of the man at the center of the image. I was trying to focus on changing its' surrounding environment by cutting rectangular shapes and pasting them vertically and horizontally.

Performance Art

For my performance, I hand wrote "I love you" in paper orgami hearts that I later clothespinned onto my shirt. My performance is based on the concept of how "I love you" has lost it's meaning. By handing out paper orgami hearts to strangers walking on Lincoln Road, I got to show how acts of kindness (expressing ourselves without words) can sometimes be misinterpreted, rejected, or acknowledged.
