I like the peeling you have created with the swatches it creates depth it also creates reflecting shadows, keep going I can't wait to see how it turns out.
If what I'm seeing is 3-d I'm very impressed. the design might be simple tiling (nothing at all wrong with that) but the pieces sticking out give it a completely different approach, especially with the use of lighting to cast shadows. Love the idea!
